Air Filtech Completes Installation of Self-Cleaning Inlet Filtration System for LM6000 Gas Turbines at Ca Mau Power Plant<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Air Filtech has completed the installation and handover of a self-cleaning Pulse-Jet inlet filtration system<\/strong> for 3 LM6000<\/strong> gas turbine units at Ca Mau Gas Power Plant, raising the system’s total air handling capacity to 1.2 million m\u00b3\/hour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Challenge<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The project was carried out to address severe turbine fouling<\/strong> in the Mekong Delta region, where the ambient air contains a range of contaminants that affect turbine performance, including sea salt and moisture from the coastal environment, seasonal pollen and organic particles, and fine dust generated by industrial and agricultural activity.<\/p>\n

The previous filtration system, using static bag filters<\/strong>, required replacement twice a year, resulting in high maintenance costs, turbine operating disruptions, and declining power generation efficiency due to rapidly rising pressure drop.<\/p>\n

Air Filtech’s Solution<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Air Filtech supplied a 3-stage gas turbine inlet filtration system:<\/p>\n

Stage 1 \u2014 Coalescer Demister Pad<\/strong>: separates salt mist, water droplets, and moisture before air enters the main filter.
\nStage 2 \u2014 Cartridge Filter F8<\/strong>: a high-efficiency filter with an integrated Pulse-Jet self-cleaning<\/strong> mechanism operating every 6 hours.
\nStage 3 \u2014 \u0394P Monitoring System<\/strong>: tracks pressure drop in real time, providing early warning when a cleaning cycle or maintenance is needed.<\/p>\n

Results After 6 Months of Operation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Pressure drop has been kept stable below 200 Pa<\/strong>, compared with around 450 Pa<\/strong> at the end of the previous system’s operating cycle. The turbines are maintaining 99.1%<\/strong> of design output, up from 95.7%<\/strong> before the upgrade. The upgrade delivers estimated savings of about VND 4 billion per year<\/strong> from reduced fuel consumption and maintenance costs, along with improved operating stability and longer turbine maintenance intervals.<\/p>\n

A Flagship Gas Turbine Project<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is the 5th<\/strong> project in which Air Filtech has deployed a gas filtration solution for large-scale gas turbine systems in Vietnam, reinforcing its capabilities in industrial and power-sector air filtration.<\/p>\n
