MeiKo Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. manufactures printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components for many of the world’s leading technology corporations. The plant covers a production area of more than 50,000 m² and operates continuously 24/7 with a workforce of thousands.
Challenge
During PCB production, soldering, cleaning, and electroplating processes generate significant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) along with acidic gases such as HCl and H2SO4.
If not effectively treated, these pollutants can:
- Affect the health of workers.
- Cause unpleasant odors in the production area.
- Corrode high-precision electronic equipment.
- Increase product defect rates and equipment maintenance costs.
Air Filtech’s Solution
Air Filtech designed and implemented a Camfil molecular filtration system with two dedicated treatment stages:
- Stage 1: CamCarb filter cassettes using granular activated carbon (GAC) to adsorb VOCs and organic solvents.
- Stage 2: Chemically impregnated activated carbon filters to treat acidic and corrosive gases generated during production.
- Removal efficiency for target pollutants exceeds 95%.
- The solution was designed to integrate with the existing HVAC system, allowing convenient maintenance and filter media replacement.
Results
- VOC and acidic gas concentrations in the production area are kept below permitted limits.
- Significant reduction in chemical corrosion of equipment and electronic components.
